![]() I was aware of Amin and the destruction and misery he caused Uganda and its people, but I was not aware of just how corrupt the system was. I have just read this amazing account of a insiders view of working with Idi Amin. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested either in this period of Ugandan history, African history in general or anyone who may want to study the lives and regimes of maniacal dictators of the 20th century. It's the cry of a man who knew Amin personally and willing to tell the world his story at the risk of his own life. It puts you right in the midst of the horror, as it was still happening. It is a sad story that has been repeated in many African countries, but the story of Uganda is particularly horrific. This was written while the guy was still in exile and Amin was still in power. The country is still reeling, decades after he was removed. But that was soon to be no more with the rise to power of Amin. It was called by Winston Churchill back in the 50's the "Pearl of Africa" for it's growing economy. ![]() Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 November 2010 ![]()
